This June, Lumen Learning is teaming up with the Northeast Regional OER Conference Committee for a Northeast Regional OER Summit, a multi-state collaborative event that brings together people engaged in using open educational resources (OER) at higher education institutions in the northeast region and beyond. Hosted at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, this event will take place Tuesday and Wednesday, 6/13-14, 2017.
Tuesday 6/13 is an OER Leadership Day, building on the leader-to-leader dialogue that took place last fall in Richmond at the OpenEd16 conference. Facilitated by Lumen Learning, this collaborative meeting will bring together individuals defining and driving OER strategy at colleges and universities. Space is limited to 50 people, and attendees from inside or outside the northeast region are welcome. We plan to publish the formal agenda shortly, but key topics we hope to explore include:
- Working with and motivating faculty members
- Economic models for sustaining open education
- Impact measurement
- The intersection of OER, learning science and technology
Wednesday 6/14 is the main conference for a broad audience engaged in teaching and learning with OER, directing and providing support for OER initiatives. Plenary and concurrent sessions will provide opportunities to share ideas, experiences and lessons learned. The call for proposals for the main conference is now open.
Conference information and registration are available at this website:

We’re excited to come together to learn, share, and celebrate the momentum driving so much activity around OER adoption in higher education today. We hope to see you there.
